A lot of major businesses in the UAE have their own recruitment sites. One such is the Al Tayer Group. The Al Tayer group has such a variety of businesses that they are always looking to recruit new people. Car sales and services are part of the group including Ford, Range Rover, Ferrari and Maserati. And there are also other luxury goods. For example, the fashion outlets handle brands such as Armani at the top end and the more every day Banana Republic. Jewelry, notably Bvlgari is an Al Tayer business; Harvey Nichols in Dubai is owned and operated by Al Tayer, so this covers a wealth of brands in a luxury department store. There are also travel agencies and commercial real estate offices. Clearly, massive business groups like Al Tayer need their own career portal. The career portal offers information on jobs, projections for the future and information on top current employees.

The Alshaya Group has a very informative website that offers information about the group as well as job opportunities. Again, this is a massive conglomeration of businesses. Alshaya has such businesses as fashion outlets, Boots the well-known pharmacy, optics outlets, and food outlets to name a few. They also have the ever popular Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids home furnishing outlets. Mothercare, Debenhams and H&M are owned and operated by Alshaya.

The careers section of the website lists jobs by nationality and by type of work offered. It also shows where the position is as not all jobs are in Dubai or even the UAE. There is plenty of information about how the recruiting process works including the fact that HR officers conduct recruitment drives around the world. Often, it is possible to be interviewed in your country of origin.

Majid Al Futtaim is another huge group in the UAE. However, their website is not as user friendly as the others and offers less information. Despite being a huge company that owns malls such as Dubai City Center, there are few jobs actually advertised on the website. However, some jobs are also advertised on discussed above.

Since expats are not permitted to attend public schools run by state government in Dubai, they need to admit their wards in private and international schools. However, fee and tuition expenses are very high. It can be around AED 90,000 annually for attending any of the international schools in Dubai.

Visa : Any non-UAE citizen essentially needs a residency visa that allows them to stay in Dubai for three years. Later, they can apply for a work permit that is issued by the Ministry of Labor. Having work permit is mandatory if you want to work in Dubai. To get a work permit in Dubai, it is important to have a confirmed job letter in hand the employer in Dubai will sponsor the visa and also bear the cost of sponsoring. Before getting a residency visa, you need health check.

We only work with the direct search approach and get your ideal candidates out of your competition. We guarantee the successful placement for each position and at 90% of our orders we can present the first candidates within 3-4 weeks.

The increasing demand for managers and specialists requires advanced processes in Headhunting and Executive Recruiting. Traditional headhunters and recruiters may have developed a reasonable contact network that they utilize, but hunting heads as the market leader only works with the Direct Search method using the internet as a side effect. Once a headhunter is a recruiter as well, he does not have the momentum any longer to do the Direct Search – even if he might state so. The world of a real headhunter or a Direct Searcher is completely different than the world of a traditionel recruiter. Recruiters are CV-shifters. They generate CVs on the numerous portals on the internet and then select some appropriate candidates out of the hundreds or thousands of received applications which they shift to their customers.

MBR Headhunters

MBR Headhunters is a new specialist organization providing search and selection based recruitment services to key industries such as Banking and Finance, Healthcare and Oil and Gas. One of the key differentiators of MBR Recruitment is the quality, depth and breadth of our search process. When we take on a new search, we begin by getting to know our client – we learn about the company’s culture, its history, and its current business objectives. Of course, we also learn all the details of the position, everything from the necessary skill-set and experience to what the employee’s day-to-day job will include.

Then, we begin our search – we know where to seek potential candidates, generate leads, network in professional circles, and utilize multi-industry databases (not just job-portals). We screen candidates, not just for their skills and goals, but also for their suitability for the organization. MBR Recruitment does not oversell a job to potential candidates; it is not our purpose to make a quick placement. Rather, it is our purpose to find candidates who will be happy in the position and contribute to the organization’s success, thereby contributing to the client’s ability to meet business objectives and maintain their respective competitive advantage.

1. – The Middle East Leading Job Site

Recruiting and career resource for job seekers, employers and manpower placement consultants in the Middle East and North Africa. They claim to be the number 1 job site in the Middle East, but actually they were one of the early recruitment websites devoted to the MENA region. Boasting a bilingual interface (A/E), has built a good reputation in the region, and many employers trust them with their requirements. If you want to get a feeling for kind of jobs are most wanted and well paid, Bayt is a good starting point. Having used Bayt since 2003, I’ve never got any phone call or an interview request! Headquartered in Dubai, UAE, is also notorious for emailing its users with job suggestions that rarely fit their criteria! Oh, and if you were wondering, Bayt in Arabic language means Home.

It has some of the best features available to you as a job seeker, and you have excellent job opportunities with Monster Gulf. is considered to be the largest job search engine in the world, and Monstergulf is its sub site devoted to the Middle East. It’s being operated and managed from India. Monstergulf acts like a search engine for all online job postings related to the Middle East, and so some of its data is not accurate or fresh, and I’ve noticed that they recycle their load of ads, which gives them the fake look and feel of having more posts than other competitors. Many registered users have reported Monstergulf personnel contacting them with offers to push their CVs to job advertisers in return for a premium. Users who opted for such services did not report any solid benefits, while others asked for a refund but never got it. Use with care is what I’d advise you to do on that site, still it’s a good indicator for the ME job market.

About Jobs in Dubai UAE

Jobs in Dubai UAE : Guide To Careers, Recruitment & Jobs Vacancies in Dubai. Dubai Employment Tips and Guide to Top Hiring Companies Jobs in Dubai UAE. Many job hunters still believe that the streets of Dubai are paved with gold. This may be true to some extent - Dubai is a tax free haven where net income is typically much higher than in other parts of the world. Even so, securing employment is not always easy. Approximately 80% of the population in Dubai consists of foreigners and competition for desired employment positions can be fierce. It is best to have an offer in hand from a company before traveling to Dubai. Of course this may not always be possible and there are certain advantages to traveling Dubai in hopes of finding a job as opposed to searching from one's home country. For example, many employers will give preference to hiring someone actually in Dubai (and thus available for an interview), rather than having to endure the extra hassle and risk of hiring someone sight unseen. However, there is no guarantee of landing a job before expiration of one's visa, making a bit of luck and local contacts invaluable in the process. Once a job seeker has secured a position, a contract will be signed and the employer will act as the sponsor. The contract should include basic salary, job title and description, length of the contract, and termination conditions among other things. It is vital to negotiate a good package including salary, housing, and school fees if the employee has children. Other allowances may include coverage for medical, transportation, utilities, and / or annual vacation with an airplane ticket to one's home country.

  1. Jobs in Dubai for Expats : Dubai is a vibrant city with much to offer those who chose to live and work here. Unfortunately, there is no one-two-three step plan to land your dream job in Dubai, but there are some rules and guidelines you can follow to help streamline your search and apply your resources efficiently to save valuable time and money. The recruitment process in Dubai varies significantly from that in other Western countries; understanding the process will help to make looking for a job easier.

Whether you are in the country on a visit visa to job hunt or you are trying to find a job from your home country, understanding what employers look for is vital to help you put your best foot forward. The process for recruiting an employee also varies with the position you are gunning for. If you are looking for a mid to high level management position such as an HR Coordinator or Head of Sales and Marketing, most companies here will be willing to go the extra mile to find out if you are the right candidate for their requirement. Companies will hire several recruitment agencies to help them find the right candidate and will be willing to fly you in for an interview with all expenses paid. They might arrange a series of phone interviews or video-conference interviews with you prior to this step to make sure that your qualifications match their needs.

For non-core positions such as receptionists, office assistants and administrative positions, most companies will prefer to hire someone who is already present within the country. As per UAE Labor Law, a hiring company is required to pay all the expenses related to the recruitment process, so given a choice, most companies will opt on saving additional expenses to fly people in when looking for non-managerial staff positions.

If you are deciding on whether to come to Dubai to look for a job or to try and secure one from your own country, there are several things to take into consideration. Dubai is not an inexpensive city and staying here without an income, even for a short period of time can be costly unless you have friends or relatives that are willing to host you during your job hunt. If you do decide to come out, make sure that you float your CV prior to arriving in Dubai, and if possible try to line up a few interviews to utilize your time effectively when you are here. That way you won’t waste your time doing legwork, which can just as easily be done from outside the country.

There are four primary ways to go about looking for a job in Dubai; which method you opt for will depend, in part, on the type of job you are looking for.

Company websites in Dubai UAE : If you are aware of companies in your chosen career path, get on the internet and look up their websites. Most companies in Dubai have a careers section on their website and many will post job vacancies here along with their requirements as well as the application process. This minimizes the risk of job scams and also helps to narrow down your search a bit.

Recruitment agencies use your professional profile to sell you to potential employers. Most companies in Dubai, particularly for high-end job positions, will hire recruitment agencies to help them find the right candidates. The better the salary package your targeted employer offers you, the more money your recruitment agency will make. It is, therefore, in their best interest to ensure that you find a job and get a competitive salary package. The best way to work with a recruitment agency is to check out their website first and make sure that they deal with jobs in your field. Then call the company and ask to speak with a specific recruiter who deals with jobs in your chosen line of work; most recruitment agencies will have a particular recruiter who deals with specific job fields such as IT jobs, Administrative jobs etc. To get the best results, work with an individual within the agency who understands what you are looking for in your job search. Also remember that legitimate recruitment companies will never ask you for an upfront fee as this is illegal! One of the most popular recruitment websites in Dubai is Bayt. We suggest uploading your CV to Bayt to gain maximum exposure to recruiters and potential employers.

Most people dread cold-calling a company for fear of having the phone slammed in their face. This method, however dreaded, can be most effective if you prepare a professional sales pitch prior to calling the company. Go to the company website, learn a little bit about the company and its culture and be prepared to quickly highlight your strong points on the phone. You can also connect with people who already work in your targeted company by building a relationship with them on websites such as LinkedIn.

Personal networks: Your personal network of friends and associates can be of great assistance when you are job hunting. Make sure to put the word out that you are looking for a job and contact your friends and colleagues to request them to put in a good word for you if they work for a company that you are targeting.

In Dubai, a resume and CV are considered as one and the same thing. Your CV is your most important marketing tool as it establishes a vital first impression of you to your potential employer; a strong first impression will help get you noticed and possibly shortlisted for an interview. In Dubai, there are no anti-discriminatory laws; most firms are very specific about ethnic origins, age and how you look so it is important to include a professional photograph of yourself in your CV. Include your age, gender and nationality so that employers are clear about your background and where you are from; this is unfortunately a part of the hiring process here in Dubai and your ethnic origin may play a deciding factor on whether or not you are offered a position.

Forget about the clean, short and precise CVs that are considered effective in most Western countries. In Dubai, your CV should be comprehensive and most employers will look for a two or three page CV. Also, remember that in Dubai, you are selling yourself as a valuable asset to a potential company, so make sure that you present the work you have done in a very positive way; instead of writing ‘Spreadsheet data entry’ you could rephrase it as ‘Entered project specific data quickly and effectively to increase productivity by 50%’. If you are good at styling your CV, you have a better chance at getting it noticed. You can do this yourself or hire a professional CV writing service to help make your resume more professional looking. Above all, read and re-read your CV several times to make sure there are no grammatical errors.

Once you have landed an interview, make sure you know about your targeted company, dress conservatively but smartly and make sure to account for traffic so that you arrive a little early for the interview. In Dubai, presentation plays a very important role in most job positions so make sure you look your best! Make sure you research salary pay scales for your level in your job field so that you can negotiate a competitive salary package accordingly.

  2. Jobs in Dubai for Expats : Whether you’re at still school or you’ve already entered the UAE workforce, these five sectors are where you should be working your way towards. According to a few headhunters these sectors are the highest paying sectors for expats in the UAE. These sectors are pretty much in keeping with global figures,” Major Project Consult associate partner Maria Khan tells Guides. “Across the world, banking, oil and gas and medicine are among the top paying industries and it’s pretty much the same here in the UAE.

Depending on the position and the organization that one joins, these figures will vary a little,” says Peter Norwell, Group Operations Director, NTSRecruitment. “However, these sectors are certainly the best paymasters when it comes to expatriate jobs in the UAE. As an expat working in the UAE, have you ever wondered about switching careers? If you have, consider these top paying sectors in the job market. Sectors are listed from the least to the highest paying.

The medical sector is a world leader. Linked directly to human life, it automatically becomes a precious commodity or service. It is an industry that is immune to almost everything because of the fact that people’s lives literally depend on it.

    Entry level Dh15,000 per month
    Middle management Dh25,000 – 35,000 per month
Senior management Above Dh80,000 per month

Real Estate is the natural by-product of construction, another top sector, and is equally lucrative, if not more, once the property market picks up. Commissions are the big pull for this sector. If you make the right sales, you could make yourself a little fortune.

    Entry level Dh15,000 per month
    Middle management Dh30,000 – 50,000 per month
Senior management Above Dh60,000 per month

If there’s anywhere in the world to work in construction, it’s right here in the UAE. In the past 10 years, this country has seen more construction than any other place in the world and it’s likely it will keep it up for the next couple of decades.

    Entry level Dh25,000 per month
    Middle management Dh40,000 – Dh65,000 per month
Senior management Above Dh80,000 per month

The Oil & Gas industry is among the highest paying sectors globally and so it holds the same value, if not more, in the wider Middle East, which is an oil producing region. For expats and Emiratis alike, this sector ensures you take home a good pay packet along with some ridiculous perks.

    Entry level Dh30,000 per month
Middle management Dh45,000 to Dh65,000 per month
Senior management Above Dh75,000 per month

When the phrase ‘laughing all the way to the bank’ was invented, it wasn’t meant to be used in this context, but little else puts things into perspective so well. If you have the skills set, don’t think twice about joining the banking sector.

    Entry level Dh30,000 per month
Middle management Dh40,000 to Dh60,000 per month
Senior management Above Dh80,000 per month

  3. Jobs in Dubai for Expats : Dubai, the land of dreams and opportunities is one of the most populous cities in the United Arab Emirates. Located in the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf, Dubai will be hosting the World Expo in 2020. With shinning economy and a wealth of opportunities in addition to the city’s offering including tall facades, world’s fastest roller coaster, sprawling commercial activities, myriad travel destinations, beautifully crafted tall buildings and other commercial structures, it has attracted many nationals and expats to set up their bases here.

Dubai, a popular expat destination in the Middle East offers the best of the living conditions necessary to lead a happy and contented life. City apart from offering a large number of opportunities to people in a wide range of industries also provides a gamut of activities that its resident can enjoy. Hence by means of so much to offer, it helps residents strike a perfect balance between their work and personal life.

The city is known for its amazing nightlife, shopping malls, retail outlets, entertainment zones, healthcare, education and other great avenues. Moreover, living in Dubai is sweeter because the residents do not have to pay income tax, and hence are able to take bigger share of their salary home. Another area that is critical to making life comfortable – public transport, is also world class. Residents can avail transport options including Dubai Metro, airways, and roadways. Additionally, taxis are inexpensive and plentiful thereby, making it convenient to enjoy a hassle-free commute.

Expats who are looking forward to relocating to this prosperous land should update themselves about the various available options and resources to avail them. In the area of housing facilities, there are many viable destinations which rent at moderate prices. Dubai Marnia is one such residential option that houses people of different nationalities.

Other communities including Umm Sequim, Al Safa, among others offer a gamut of accommodation facilities ranging from affordable units to high-rise apartments and expensive villas. In order to get profitable deals in the residential sector, it is advisable to approach brokers or agents who are officially registered and hold a Broker’s Registration ID card. These agents get their license issued from Department of Economic Development.

Whether going for short term tenancy agreement or a fixed-term tenancy, it is strongly recommended to never take services of unregistered agent or a broker. Moreover, a registered broker can guide you through the entire process, and help you with all the required documents including a copy of your passport, residence permit, offer letter and income statement from employer, and a security deposit equivalent to a three months’ rent.

  4. Jobs in Dubai for Expats : Working in Dubai can be immensely fulfilling if the expats keep an open mindset and strive harder in their respective fields. With dozens of opportunities available, employers look for determined candidates who will be able to reduce the operational costs and hence positively affect the profits at the same time.

Apart from a large number of opportunities available for expats, one of the fundamental reason which attracts them to work in Dubai is that government does not impose any tax on the professionals’ personal salaries. This enables employees to take higher disposable income and hence increases their ability to afford a high level of luxury and comfort. However, expats should pay a great deal of attention to the work laws, as the laws vary from country to country.

Having a clear understanding of the immigration process is critical to be able to work in Dubai. Therefore, expats should take the help of their employer’s law department to ensure that all the required paperwork is formally completed. Once all of that is taken care of, expats can enjoy all the city has to offer in terms of employment opportunities.

Many positions can be found in various industries including medicine, oil, and gas, information technology, media, real estate, telecommunication, health care sector, education sector, financial sector, among others. Another thing to note is that all expats should focus on networking, and ensure that they are well versed with English and know basic computer skills.

Last but not the least, they should have a complete understanding about the company and its operations, salary offered, extra allowances, work benefits, work timings, opportunities to earn compensation and bonus, transport and home allowances, vacation period and time to travel back to their the home country among others.

  5. Jobs in Dubai for Expats : Despite its urbane semblance, work culture in Dubai is most likely going to be different from other countries. The reason for difference emanates from the fact that Dubai has its roots in the Arabic language, and even though expats can live here comfortably without even uttering a word in Arabic, knowing Arabic is a big help.

Learning to greet in Arabic like usage of phrases including as “salaamu aleikum” and its reply is “aleikum as-salam”, is greatly recommended. Try using “marhaba” (welcome) as a general, and “min fudluk” (please) and “shukran” (thank you). Apart from the aforementioned greeting phrases, a handshake is the common greeting method. In addition to it, placing one’s right hand on one’s chest after handshake shows respect. If greeting women, wait for her extended hand. Knowing the aforementioned will help you mingle and socialize more effectively.

Working hours in Dubai can differ from company to company. The work week lasts from Sunday-Thursday, while Friday-Saturday are specified days to enjoy with your dear ones. Offices generally open around 7.30-8 am and close somewhere between 5.30-6 pm depending upon the work and the industry type. It also includes morning and afternoon breaks and several breaks for prayers in the afternoon. Working hours during the month of Ramadan are abbreviated by two or three hours and don’t expect holidays for Christmas or Easter.

Regarding the work attire, the dress code is formal and conservative for men whereas; women dress modestly, covering upper arms and shoulders. On Thursdays, you can go for the casual attire. Here also, the work attire depends on which sector-Public or private you are working for. The modest and formal dress code is very important during the holy period of Ramadan.

For expats, it is recommended that prior to starting in Dubai, they should familiarize themselves with the way business is conducted including work hours, dress code and holidays. It is also recommended that expats should learn basic Arabic as that will help them to socialize and network better.

All in all, living in Dubai can be very rewarding as the city has everything required to lead a comfortable life, but in order to ensure that expats are able to make the most of what city has to offer, they should pay attention to the things mentioned in the article and escape any surprises.

  6. You may need to go abroad for studies or for any other purpose and there you may need to earn your living. For that you need a job. Every job on offer will need the candidate to have some qualifications. Also the laws for expatriates to work differ from country to country.

There are many aspects that you must be aware to get a job. What are the qualifications required for a job, where to find a job, how to get a work permit and from whom.

Usually the expat jobs are advertised on the net because of its global presence. Once you come to know of an opening you can find out whether you are a suitable candidate for it, if so, you can offer yourself through the proper channel. For that you have to assess the situation carefully and know the working conditions too.
A job is not easily obtained for the expats if they apply for the job through a foreign recruiter. But a local recruiter can help you get one more easily. Hence after getting an expat work permit you can approach one who is based locally and avail a job that suits your qualifications.

The recession has changed the scenario of the job prospects a lot and lesser opportunities come the way of expats as the job market has slowed down. As well the working rules too have been made stricter so job offers are given to the local talent more than anyone coming from a foreign country.

Thus the expatriates have to try harder to get job now than before. The qualifications too should be in a higher side only then the jobs will come their way. Otherwise you can try to open your own company or get a job offer from a company of your mother country if you must really live in abroad for some reason.

  7. What does it take to rebuild a country devastated by internal and external conflicts? Can the Middle East thrive on its huge wealth of oil once again? No doubt, it is going to take a Herculean effort to re-establish the past grandeur of the oil-rich Middle East.

The incessant rise in food prices and non-food items is pushing the inflation rate to an all time high. This sudden rise is mainly due to the increasing costs of food, non-food items, manufactured items, and accommodation. The increase in the price of goods and services has adversely hit the middle-class consumers especially the expats as they realized a drastic decrease in the value of the cash they carry in their wallets and pockets.

The average income of expatriate workers has fallen drastically as consumer prices soar towards the sky. There are also a few external factors that have fueled the inflation and they include the decline in the value of the US dollar against the Euro and other Asian currencies. Even imports from Europe and other Asian countries have become extremely expensive due to the fall of the dollar.

Inflation and the higher cost of living in the Gulf are dissuading expatriate workers from working in the Gulf. Today, expats from India are not too keen to work in the Middle East. In fact, they are more comfortable staying at home and working in local Indian companies rather than working for the Middle East firms. Home, home, sweet home, there is no place like home.

  8. When the job market for professionals and experts is tight in developed countries and the opportunities are few, maybe it’s time to consider an overseas posting. It is surprising to see the range of openings that are advertised, the different levels of experience required and the locations that a person can choose to work in. Clients are looking for banking relationship managers in Nigeria, nurses and doctors in the gold mining industry, and even facilities managers in Kazakhstan.

Expatriates can be appointed in various ways:

The placement may be a permanent one, meaning that there is an employment contract that continues until it is terminated by agreement.

Contract appointments are for a fixed term, usually one or two years with a stated end date. There may be an option to renew and possibly a termination bonus.

Interim appointments are made for a period of time that allows for the client to search for a suitable person to fill the role on a longer term basis.

Openings are advertised by on-line specialist job sites and global recruitment agencies. They act for clients in mining, oil and gas, banking, power, I.T and telecommunications, medical and construction industries among others. It is preferable to use a service provider that has experience in the region that you are targeting, especially in Africa, where local knowledge is vital.

The roles that are available are diverse and mostly require people with technical or professional qualifications and a few years experience in their chose field. Applicants with well developed language skills other than English receive preference in locations where the main language is French, Spanish or Portuguese.

Internet research into the employers, their locations, their H.R policies is recommended. There is a wealth of information available for potential expatriates: details on the country that will host them, the relative cost of living and local conditions in each country and the type of lifestyle you can expect. Importantly, use a trusted agent to assist you who can answer the many questions that you may have and who can allay your fears of the unknown. Expand your horizons and look for an international expatriate job that suits you.

  9. Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is one of the world’s fastest growing employment hotspots in the world. Up to 20 new companies establish themselves in the emirate’s free trade zones every week and since 2002 some 650 companies have registered in the Dubai Media City free trade zone alone.

Particularly in the fields of tourism, IT, media and finance there are significant job opportunities for qualified personnel and if you’re interested in working in Dubai here’s a guide to employment in the most exciting, tax free, fastest growing multi cultural location in the world.

Yes, you heard me right, Dubai is tax free – if you live and work in the emirate your income will be paid to you gross and furthermore, if you buy a house to live in you will not be subject to property taxes because direct personal taxation is against the law in Dubai!

The emirate currently has 15 free trade zones and 7 more are in the planning stages. The free trade zones are where foreign businesses can establish themselves and grow without the restriction of corporate taxation for example and without having to submit to a local majority shareholding structure. As a direct result of all of the incentives offered to overseas businesses, take up in the free trade zones has been incredible and employment opportunities for foreign personnel are being created within them on a weekly basis.

To work in Dubai you require a work permit and a residency visa and the majority of employers arrange these for their expatriate work force when they appoint them. If you’re planning on travelling to Dubai to look for work you can enter the country on a temporary visa and then as soon as you secure employment you can apply for your work permit and visas. Rules relating to the period of time you can remain in the country on a temporary visa vary depending on the country you herald from and you should check with your local UAE embassy on rules that apply to you before you travel.

Most business in Dubai is done on a networking basis and so when you first arrive it can feel a little alien to have to immediately get out there and start introducing yourself to people. But don’t worry, you soon get used to it. Just make sure you have a pocketful of business cards to hand whenever you leave your accommodation as trading in business cards is the first step to successful networking!

Once you’ve settled into the different working hours in Dubai – many businesses close for a few hours in the afternoon and no local people take appointments on a Friday – and once you’ve settled into the fast pace of your social life you will begin to love your new surroundings. The quality of life achievable in Dubai for expatriates is quite possibly inimitable elsewhere as such emphasis has been placed on creating a paradise where foreign workers can work hard, play hard, live life to the full and experience everything in one day from skiing on an indoor slope to playing golf to diving to camel riding in the desert.

Expatriates make up 94% of the population in Dubai and as a direct result you can almost guarantee you’ll make friends very quickly and easily. The environment in Dubai is so multi cultural, open and free and there are a great deal of social clubs and events designed for people to meet up and make friends. These all help ease new residents into their brand new life. Everyone makes a great effort to get along in Dubai because they are all in the same boat together – working away from home but enjoying being in a country that offers first class business opportunities and a tax free lifestyle – could you ask for more?

  10. Dubai is such an appealing and exciting destination on the surface. Myths and urban legends about the city and emirate of the same name make many of us intrigued and determined to learn more about living and working in Dubai, but sadly there is a real lack of information available on the web.

Is it true that Dubai is tax-free for example? Is it true that salaries are really high and work conditions are fantastic? Can women work in Dubai, and can unmarried couples really not live together? There are so many questions from us Westerners who would love the chance to sample the exotic lifestyle we read about in Dubai, but few answers are forthcoming. Which is the reason behind the penning of this article!

If you want to know what it’s like living and working in Dubai, read on!

Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. Every month the population expands as more and more expatriates move to live and work in an emirate where there is no income tax levied on personal wages, where the standard of living is incredibly high, the climate is exceptionally attractive, and where real estate is the embodiment of the word luxurious.

These expatriates have to be sponsored by an employer to be allowed to live and work in Dubai, therefore many have found work in advance of their relocation and have never actually visited Dubai before they move there! This can be a huge culture shock as Dubai is a relatively strict Muslim nation where you are expected to understand and observe local laws and customs, or suffer the very real and often harsh consequences.

If you do understand the way women should dress conservatively, that unmarried couples cannot live together, that you cannot consume alcohol on the street or purchase it for home consumption without having a license, and that if you are a single woman who falls pregnant when in Dubai you need to leave immediately, then you will find living in the emirate very easy! In other words, do your research into what will be expected of you when you relocate and you will never fall foul of the authorities, and subsequently your experience of living in the emirate will be a purely positive one.

Working in Dubai, similar advice is applicable. You need to understand the business etiquette of the nation, your place and role within a company, and that in Dubai you work very hard and can, if you so choose, play even harder! The lifestyle available in Dubai city is incredible. There are the best shopping, leisure and entertainment facilities and amenities in the world in Dubai – and with a tax-free salary burning a hole in your pocket, you are likely to have the resources available to you to make the most of your time in the emirate.

If you have children and are thinking of moving to Dubai then you will be pleased to know there are some incredibly good private international schools available to you. However, they are expensive…as is housing! So, if you are sponsored by an employer to move to the emirate, try and negotiate school fees and money towards accommodation into your ‘package.’ When you do find a job in Dubai and have gone through the process of sorting out your employment package, your employer will sponsor your work visa as mentioned. It is worth noting that it is not so straightforward to change employer should you determine that the job is not 100% right for you after a few months. Depending on the level you’re working at and the qualifications you have, you are only permitted to change employer a set number of times!

What’s more, your current employer has to effectively give you permission to leave your job and go and work elsewhere! This is just one reason why it’s important to ensure you apply for the right job and negotiate the right package at the outset. Good sources of advice are forums and blogs dedicated to living and working in Dubai. The latter tend to paint a realistic picture of life in the emirate, warts and all, whilst forums give you the chance to do more research into any questions and concerns that you have about relocating.

  11. Dubai Visit Visa

Suppose you are planning on a visit to Dubai, either for holidays or work, it is a requirement that you have in possession a valid visa. Moreover, the steps towards acquiring a visa vary depending on an individual’s Nationality. Generally, it is easy to have your visa processed, since it takes 72 hours for a normal application, and for urgent cases, it can be done in one day. The process is hassle free, provided you have all documents required.

To start, members of the following Nationalities should have no problems getting visas to Dubai, since they can easily be granted one on arrival at Dubai Airport. The Nationalities are as follows: GCC Nationals who are composed of Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. The others include; Germany, France, Luxembourg, Italy, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, Ireland, Portugal, Belgium, Greece, Liechtenstein, Spain, Iceland, San Marino, Vatican City, and Andorra. Lastly, there is the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Brunei, Japan, and Hong Kong. However, you must ensure you check for updates, since the list of countries is updated by the Dubai government. It would be wise to establish contact with the Dubai government website.

If your Nationality doesn’t fall on the above list, please make sure your passport is obtained from a sponsor. This can be done in three ways. Firstly, you can get sponsorship from an individual who possesses a Dubai residence visa, and has an income exceeding more than AED 4000/month. Secondly, it can be done by a travel agent or hotel, and lastly, through a company that is already operating in Dubai. Additionally, for the sponsorship to go through, the sponsor should be in a position to submit your visa application accompanied by the relevant visa fee. Thus, a Dubai visit visa is only valid for 55 days from the time the visitor enters Dubai/UAE. However, it is only renewable for an additional one month.

Other ways of getting a visit Visa to Dubai include the following: You may opt to fly with Emirates Airlines. Visitors flying Emirates Airlines are eligible to send visa applications to the Dubai Visa Processing Centres (DVPC). However, this is limited to some countries. For more information on this, contact your nearest Emirates office. It is also possible to be granted a visa if you are traveling during a major festival period. The restrictions in place at such times are loosened a bit. Such festival periods include the Dubai shopping festival. Another option is staying in a major hotel, since majority of these major hotels sponsor their visitors. If a visitor is willing to stay in the hotel for a little longer, then the hotel will organize on how a visa will be issued.

In case you are intending to spend more time in Dubai or the UAE, then you might be forced to apply for a residence visa. The lasting period for the residence visa is valid for 3 years, and is renewed when the time expires. Alternatively, you can apply for a residence visa directly if you own a property in Dubai or the UAE. On the brighter side, Dubai/UAE visas are easier to get, more so, if the documentation of an individual is in the right order. Therefore, if you are planning on visiting Dubai UAE, it is wise to confirm with what the authorities require, then you can choose which way is best for you to obtain the visit visa.
