How to Find Entry Level Mechanical Engineering Jobs in Dubai

Entry Level Mechanical Engineering Jobs in Dubai UAE :

So you’ve graduated with your Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and are now looking for your first job. Most job descriptions you come across are looking for job experience. The problem is that you don’t have any job experience. You’re kicking yourself for not taking a semester off to do a co-op which would have put some experience on your resume. Things are not looking so good for you. You envision your future five years from now. You see that you are still living with your parents and working at a McDonald’s. Don’t worry, I have been in your shoes and I have landed that first all important job that gets you started on your career. I will teach you what you need to do so that your current vision of the future doesn’t become a reality.

Through my experience of graduating and landing my first entry level mechanical engineering job, I’ve learned there are three ways to get around the experience obstacle.

First the hardest. You can go back to school and get your master’s degree in either mechanical, aerospace, or business. A master’s degree will set you apart from the rest of the applicants that are applying for entry level mechanical jobs. A lot of companies will also overlook the fact that you don’t have any experience because of this. This is a great option if you want to stay in school a little while longer. It also gives you an opportunity to make network connections with professors and others in your field while getting a graduate degree.

Secondly, you can take a job as a mechanical engineering designer. You’ll have to know drafting standards such as ANSI Y14.5 and a CAD program such as Solidworks to land a job like this. It will be pretty easy to find a designer job, if you are proficient in ANSI Y14.5 and Solidworks and possess a mechanical engineering degree. Your pay will be significantly less, but you’ll be gaining experience. If you don’t know anything about drafting standards, then go to your local community college and enroll in a drafting class and also a Solidworks course offered by solidworks resellers. Once you have those skills, I suggest connecting with some recruitment firms such as Aerotek. They are hired by companies to search for candidates to fill positions. Once you land a designer position with a company, work hard and they will reward you by promoting you to a mechanical engineer. If this doesn’t happen, at the very least you will have some great experience that will make your resume standout.

Thirdly, just be very persistent in your job hunt. Here’s a list of action items:

    • Check the job boards, such as Monster, Indeed, Careerbuilder, and Craigslist every day and apply to every mechanical engineering job that is posted with experience needed of five years or less.
    • Submit your resume to these sites so that it is searchable for recruiters of companies.
    • Go to company websites that you are interested in and submit your resume to their resume database.
    • Go on as many interviews as you can to get practice at doing interviews. During interviews make sure to ask a lot of questions about the company and what they do there. This will show passion and interest.
    • Go to career fairs and hand out resumes to all the companies attending.
    • Look up local companies in your area that you are interested in. Call them to find out who the hiring managers are and ask to speak to them. Say that you are really interested in working for them and would like for them to take a look at your resume. If you aren’t having any luck on the phone, show up in person and drop your resume off with the receptionist.

If you apply these techniques, I’m sure you’ll land that all important first entry level mechanical engineering job. Whatever you do, don’t give up!

About Jobs in Dubai UAE

Jobs in Dubai UAE : Guide To Careers, Recruitment & Jobs Vacancies in Dubai. Dubai Employment Tips and Guide to Top Hiring Companies Jobs in Dubai UAE. Many job hunters still believe that the streets of Dubai are paved with gold. This may be true to some extent - Dubai is a tax free haven where net income is typically much higher than in other parts of the world. Even so, securing employment is not always easy. Approximately 80% of the population in Dubai consists of foreigners and competition for desired employment positions can be fierce. It is best to have an offer in hand from a company before traveling to Dubai. Of course this may not always be possible and there are certain advantages to traveling Dubai in hopes of finding a job as opposed to searching from one's home country. For example, many employers will give preference to hiring someone actually in Dubai (and thus available for an interview), rather than having to endure the extra hassle and risk of hiring someone sight unseen. However, there is no guarantee of landing a job before expiration of one's visa, making a bit of luck and local contacts invaluable in the process. Once a job seeker has secured a position, a contract will be signed and the employer will act as the sponsor. The contract should include basic salary, job title and description, length of the contract, and termination conditions among other things. It is vital to negotiate a good package including salary, housing, and school fees if the employee has children. Other allowances may include coverage for medical, transportation, utilities, and / or annual vacation with an airplane ticket to one's home country.

  1. Jobs in Dubai

Engineering recruitment and careers in Dubai in general are split into a bewildering array of different subsections. How can one consider a software engineer to be performing the same type of jobs as a transport planning engineer? Although these two jobs are quite different, both of the workers choose to attack their tasks using rigorous scientific methods. An engineer is one who examines processes, and creates things for the better of our world in the most effective manner.

Engineering jobs in Dubai are commonly broken down into four main branches. These are electrical, chemical, civil, and mechanical. We will look at each of these in turn, but it is wise to note that a job in engineering commonly includes working within a number of disciplines. Granted, there are many who specialize in a highly specific industry niche, but there are just as many who gravitate through a number of disciplines over the course of their career.

Chemical engineering careers will see the engineer use materials and chemicals in certain ways to help us in the world, for example making them more durable or flexible. Within this discipline there are an array of subsections such as material engineering jobs, chemical process engineering jobs and molecular engineering jobs, and these all have their own specialties.

Civil engineering jobs cope with the big stuff – design and construction of major infrastructure, mining, structures and transport. It is within this discipline that engineers are most concerned with our natural environment.

Electrical engineers are concerned with the science of electricity and how it can be used to better our lives. This has become increasingly important over the past century and has therefore morphed into a number of disciplines such as electronic and computer engineering. In its strictest form electrical engineers are still only interested in the physical side of computers and electronics, rather than software processes.

Finally, mechanical engineering encompasses vehicle design and machines with moving parts. Mechanical engineers design and build machines that move and transport that takes us across the country.

There are also engineering jobs that don’t fall neatly into the four main engineering disciplines. Industrial engineering jobs, for example, include the design of logistics and the movement of resources in industry. On the other hand, a job in mechatronics such as instrumentation engineering will see the engineer use a hybrid of skills from both electrical and mechanical.

An engineer is somebody who uses the ideas of science and mathematics in order to develop products or services, meaning that these jobs are centered around the idea of applied science. Mechanical engineers are involved in researching, analyzing, designing, manufacturing, and testing machines, tools, engines, and other mechanical devices. Many different kinds of engineering jobs are available to mechanical engineers. This is because of the fact that the principles can be applied to many different industries. Most of the products that they work either produce or use power. In some cases they may design tools that are used by other engineers. Those who are proficient at working in teams and making difficult decisions may eventually take on managerial positions in technically driven industries.

Mechanical Engineering Jobs in Dubai UAE : Mechanical engineering jobs are typically undergone in an office environment, although the office is often located in the same building as a manufacturing facility. Some are more theoretically driven, where others are more experimental. There are varying degrees of hands-on work performed by these engineers, depending on the level of specialization and the industry in which they work. Most work about forty hours a week with weekends off. Work is driven more by deadlines than time spent at work, so schedules can be fairly flexible.

Mechanical Engineering Jobs in Dubai UAE : Job Opportunities in Dubai for Engineers. Guide Mechanical Engineering Jobs in Dubai for Freshers. A bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, or the hard sciences is typically necessary for jobs in engineering, and this is equally true for mechanical. It is not necessarily important for a graduate to have a degree specializing in mechanical engineering specifically, however, as long as they have the necessary experience and knowledge to do the work. Nearly all applicants will need to have an extensive background in engineering courses, the hard sciences, industry, and math. Most engineers will work together closely with other more advanced when they first take the job, and many larger programs will offer classroom training as well. Engineers are gradually given more independence to design, develop, test, and improve upon their own projects.
